Traveling To Istanbul
Istanbul is less than a three-hour flight from most European cities. Located at the crossroads of East and West, Istanbul offers easy air connections and is served by more than 300 airlines from hundreds of cities around the world. Istanbul is serving two airports; New Istanbul airport (IST) on the European side of the city and Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW) on the Asian side with a capacity of far over 50 million travelers per year. In 2022, the Istanbul International Airport in Turkey saw a total of almost 65.5 million passengers pass through. The majority of the traffic consisted of international passengers, totaling about 24.3 million in the same year. Istanbul Airport also received awards for being the "Airport with the Best Food and Beverage Area," the "Best Airport Shopping Experience," and the "Airport Offering the Best Duty-Free Shopping Experience in Europe”.

Almost all international airlines have convenient direct flights to Istanbul from all over the world. Turkish Airlines, which has been carrying passengers and cargo since 1933, has today a fleet of 131 aircraft and flies to a total of 148 destinations, 36 domestic and 112 international. It has consolidated its international position by linking the Caucasian countries and the Turkish Republics in Central Asia, as well as the Middle Eastern and Asian countries with Europe, Africa, and North America through the service network hub in Istanbul. Turkish Airlines is a member of Star Alliance.
Visa Requirements
All participants are required to show a valid passport while traveling to Turkey. Citizens of some countries are required to obtain visa before arrival from the Turkish Embassy or Consulate and some may obtain e-Visas via the website www.evisa.gov.tr before arrival.
